| ideas? Anyone aware of the legality of doing something like that? There are a few spots in mind where traffic jams a bit and that could work. | |

| If we decide to make one a good bridge to use is the one that goes over the freeway over by the Ario Space Museum. | |

Best idea would be to place it over the 163 heading in to downtown and the 805. We can also slap it up the 15 north and south bound.

That was in LA. I live adjacent to the 15 and drive up and down that freeway a lot so I know I've seen various bridges that we could use. I've seen campaign signs placed on several different bridges and just the other day at the height of Carol Canyon Rd I saw one that said "I <3 YOU SOMECHICK" and it got me thinking... if one guy can do it...

Also the 15 south to the border *is that right?* has tones of bridges.

SCRUFF McGRUFF THE CRIME DOG SAYS "WAIT A MOMENT, LITTLE BILLY..." The SDPD loves us. The less laws we break, the better off we are with them and the more legitimacy we have in general. This includes harmless crimes like jaywalking. Lawful Good, people. The skin jobs are the ones breaking the law, not us.

If it's a highway or freeway, wouldn't it fall under CHP jurisdiction and not SDPD? Anyways, if spoiling an SDPD relationship is a problem, we can put it somewhere technically not in the city of San Diego? Near the Chula Vista or National City or El Cajon, etc., etc. If it ever happens though, it needs to be short and to the point to avoid distraction.. "Scientology lies", "Xenu.net" and not the overabundence they have on that sign. Plus the larger text the better, also unlike the LA sign.

| Is it really illegal? I've seen presidential campaign posters over freeway bridges like this. I've also seen a big truck parked on top of these bridges with large banners on them. That wouldn't be illegal would it? | |

| Well, I guess we could ask. Presidential banners are usually paid for by PACs and whatnot, so they've probably got permits with day-up day-down schedules. The problem with permits are that, generally, they're of public record and because they are there to establish lines of liability and responsibility (if the sign comes down, who gets sued?) they could be a sure-fire way to get namefagged.
Unless we were to start an LLC which, as a legal person, could sign its own name to things. But that's a bit much, I think.
I'm just guessing, but I wouldn't get hopes up; if it really were that easy, you'd think you'd see more of it.

| Okay, after some quick googling...it's iffy. Technically you can not. California law prohibits it because it presents a "distraction" to drivers. On the other hand, it's no different than the tons of advertisement billboards that line the freeway. There are loop holes, but again its mostly about "distraction". Also, I've seen it done around California, especially by Ron Paul supporters, so we're on shaky ground here on whether we do this or not.
Pulled off of Enturbulation:http://forums.enturbulation.org/12-current-projects/project-information-superhighway-signs-overpasses-12153/2/ Do a page search for "California", it'll bring you right to the proper post.
