Current plans for Trick or Treat, with sugguested timeline for the protest to ensure maximum safety, maximum effectiveness, and maximum fun.For reference, Google Map Link is
here.
This raid is different than the ones we've held previously. The raid will be in TWO SHIFTS, one in the morning/afternoon like a typical global, and the second in the afternoon/evening like our nighttime raids to take advantage of the nightlife in San Diego, nearing Halloween. Show up for one shift, the other, or both. The meetup points will be the same so as to avoid confusion, seeing as we like to move around alot during our marches and globals, there will be a specific meetup time for the night raid. Make sure to wear costumes if you got 'em!Shift 111:00 AM: Meet at the fountain in front of Horton Plaza, same place we always do. A few members of Anon that have attended previous protests will address the group for the benefits of all involved, both first timers and veterans alike. The San Diego Police may be there, but given that they weren't last time, this is still up in the air. This is important, as the information can protect you against Fair Game and avoids giving the CoS any ammunition to use against you.
11:30 AM: After the pleasantries, we march up
4th street to the protest location at the CoS. Make sure that if you have the balls to stay on their side of the street, do
nothing to warrant aggression or undue attention from the police. Do not block their driveway for any reason, and make sure you do not step over the line from the public sidewalk onto the concrete in front of their entranceway. This IS tresspassing and you WILL be arrested, as has been demonstrated in other cities. Don't block the metro stop either, you'll understand when you get there.
Sing, dance, chant, let them know we're there, and make sure to take LOTS of pictures of the hiding behind their banners trying to take photos of us, with a few of us going around to the back of the building as well. The police will most likely be called at this point if they aren't escorting us, so be professional, polite, and courteous to them when they do show up. Please direct any police that wish to speak to someone "in charge" to Anonagi or Xenubarb, as we're the main points of police contact for the city.
12:30ish: March back down 4th to the main protest spot in front of Horton as shown on the map. Get exposure, honk, and have a great time. DO NOT GO INTO THE PLAZA ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE NBC BUILDING OR INTO HORTON ITSELF, this is a big no no.
Take the group photo for posterity purposes, and spread out to the 8 main protest corners.
Try to keep morale up with a boombox/music source and a fresh supply of flyers on every corner, we keep running out!Want flyers? Check out the resources section.
2:15 - 2:30ish - March time! we've been doing this for months with great success. We split into two groups and we march down 4th Street to the Convention Center on Harbor Drive, with one group on each side of the street. We always end up handing out info, then cut over to 5th and march back north eventually ending up back at the CoS. This should take about 45 minutes to an hour if that. The Gaslamp is one of San Diego's busiest districts that time of evening and day, so we plan to exploit it fully.
3:30 to 4:00 - Shift 1 breaks, everyone scatters and heads back to their cars/trollies/buses. Be careful and make sure you aren't being followed.
Shift 2Meetup point for the evening raid is in front of Horton Plaza fountain at 5:00 pm. This will give Anonymous members who plan on being at the raid the entire day the time they need to sneak off, get food, hydrate, use the bathroom, etc, and give us more time to get ready. Nighttime raids are always fun. Also, this gives time to make a Kinko's run.5:00 PM: Meetup at Horton Plaza fountain. Repeat procedures earlier from earlier on during the day.
5:30 PM: March up to the CoS again with renewed vigor.
Nightfall?: A second march around the gaslamp, hanging out in the area until roughly 8-9pm, or until people scatter off on their own. There is no official time to break up.
Stuff to bring:1) COSTUMES! It's Halloween time, so if you have a costume or fun outfit, wear it! It's going to be a fun raid since people downtown dress up as well, and is a great way to garner attention to the cause.
2) WATER! It's going to be hot, and while several anons will be bringing water, STAY HYDRATED. Don't put your health at risk, ESPECIALLY IF YOU WEAR A SUIT.
3) SUNSCREEN - you don't want the Guy Fawkes masks burned into your face, self explanitory.
4) Cash makes buying things easier with no paper trail, and avoids the hassle of trying to convince the cashier that they don't need to see your ID. Other cities have had CoS plants in coffee shops and restaraunts around the protest spots, so make sure to not take off your mask if you can't help it.
5) Protest signs! We've had a lack of these at previous protests along with flyers and other things as well, prompting some mad dashes to Kinkos. We need some large signs, or materials on hand to make some.
IF ANY OF YOU STILL HAVE THE SIGNS YOU MADE FOR THE 24 HOUR RAID, THE ONES THAT LIT UP, PLEASE BRING THEM FOR THE NIGHTTIME RAID6) If any of you have earrings, necklaces, wristwatches, or anything like that that flash and light up, bring those as well for the nighttime raid.
General tips for safety:-Have a plan to get to and from the protest location. Alot of people will be taking some form of public transportation. Regardless of how you get there, make sure you aren't being followed when you go to your car. Double back if you have to, but the Church of Scientology has been stepping up its number of PIs and photographers here in San Diego and they need anything they can get right now.
-If you're carrying a sign that's attatched to a piece of wood, it can be no thicker than 1/4 inch and must be able to break easily over your arm, with no sharp corners or edges. This is directly from the city's code and not one we want to argue about. A scrap of lattice works well, or in a real jam, going into Home Depot and asking for a protest sign stick works too.
-Don't take the masks off and don't change clothes until you are in a safe spot to do so. This should be a no brainer, but unfortunately, one of the things that occured during the last few protests were people waiting until the end of the protest, and then as soon as it was over in front of the CoS at 3:30, they took their masks off and walked back to the trolley, and were subequently photographed or tailed.

This is the first major global raid we have done since several Anonymous members in San Diego have been outed and recieved lawless Cease and Desist letters from Scientology lawyers. Since then, in various areas of the country, outed protesters have had their neighborhoods flyered, families harassed, and in the most "amusing" cases, their pictures, address, and personal information displayed on large signs carried by "fake" Anonymous protesters who are really Scientologists. While this has not taken place in San Diego yet, there is a good chance it may during this raid. If you have been outed, it is sugguested that you wear something completely different to this raid to confuse any countertactics.-If you see fake Anonymous members or Scientologists sent out to counterprotest or give out the hate crimes literature, give them a berth, but do not witch hunt. The tactic that CoS is using right now is handing out the Anonymous Hate Crimes DVD and flyers to anyone who is willing to take them, and they started doing this in San Diego during Sea Argh. The other favorite tactic of them right now is to send out fake Anonymous members to disturb the protests. Don't harass these people - just make sure anyone they give literature or a DVD to gets one of our flyers as well, or even better, offer a trade! Or you could always stand with a trashbag and a large sign that says "THIS DVD CONTAINS A COMPUTER VIRUS" for added effect.
-If anyone acts out of line - wether it's a protester, a Scientologist, or a member of the public, sit down and point them out to law enforcement. They know we're in the area and that the Church of Scientology is becoming more aggressive worldwide against Anonymous, doing anything they can to affect us or tarnish our reptuation, baiting us into doing something incriminating
