| May Day (International Labour Day) is celebrated May 1st.. Originally it was a day of workers rights, unionization, blah blah blah but has turned into a general cluster fuck of activist subjects: Anarchists, (generally just 2 or 3) Socialists, unions, labor activists, immigrants rights, anti-capitalists, same sex rights and various other crap lodged togather in one massive march through downtown.
I know there's a lot of media there and such... anyone want to go attempt to steal the thunder? I know every local news station had a camera there last yearr, there were people doing interviews, etc., etc. The banner of speading the abuses of Scientology and their exploitation of the deceived worker would be a good applicable theme.. Also there are tables for pamplets and such, possibly we could get some YFTCs on the table.
ASD topic: activistsandiego [dot] org/wwwboard/viewtopic.php?t=18931
PROS: - Media coverage - Massive flyering or carding potential
CONS: - There are some crazys there, especially those against it.. like one old man who was saying last year non-whites should be castrated - Potential affiliation or contact with psuedo-unrelated subjects (but that again, we did the Pride Parade)
It generally it goes from in front of San Diego City College and ends at a little park near the Sea Port Villlage Trolley Station
What are your thoughts, collective hivemind, on Operation Column 5? Yay or nay?

And since I'll just toss them in a dumpster after I've finished having my way. I can still make it to the festivities

| So then, general consensus for commencement of operation? The poll will close on Tuesday. Majority decides.
Potential plan outline if approved?: Meet up at City College Transit Center. Then proceed to the event location. Event marches at around 3:00 PM from City College to a park near Seaport Village Transit Center. Both locations are close to trolley stations.
One of three possibilities.. 1. Flyer and gain attention, leave when they march. 2. We march, go to the end location, hand flyers, etc.. or 3. we split off from the march when we pass in the general area of the Org.
Unknown end time, most likely 5 PM or after.

| According to that site. All that is marching is people for mexican rights. The only thing neswworthy about mexicans marching is that they aren't sitting on their porches listening to mariachi music and drinking cheap beer as they normally do. | |

I lol'd. As I said, that's what it's "celebrated" as, however people like to go fifth column there also. Last year I know at least these groups/unions/etc. took place: Industrial Workers of the World, AFL-CIO, United Farm Workers, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, California Teachers Association, some janitors union took place.. so did some City College clubs, there were people from the International Socialist Organization, at least one person from the Revolutionary Communist Party, some various Anarchists-Syndicalists and Liberitarian-Anarchists.. at least two rainbow flags.. And on the opposing side, at least the Minute Men and some unaffiliated people took place. The media attention at the meeting area would be a ripe time to capitalize on with our own quasi-related issues, plus it's not that far away from the Org who need moar /r/aids on non-weekends. | Alright. I understand nows. So where is the meet up point? and where does the event start, and what is it exactly? just a march? or a march with a big fairlike setting with booths and tables and clowns and such?
